SARS-COV-2/COV-19 Today Thursday March 26, 2020 The Coronavirus is now affecting 199 countries and territories around the world. Basically the entire planet has now been taken over by the Pandemic. Infected Cases: 532,224 Deaths: 24,087

The threat is real and anyone who is not taking it seriously needs to wake the fuck up. There I said it! I don’t need to give you the statistics anymore and tell you how many are dying across the world. Sadly though they are all dying alone, not being able to hold the hands of their loved ones or here a whisper in their ear or a kiss on the cheek as they pass into the next world. Even funerals in many situations can’t even be attended. The dead are held until they are immediately cremated. Spain whose numbers have been soaring, the deaths have surpassed China’s and they are now having to load the deceased bodies into ice rinks until they can cremate them.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking for the families and as the world looks on in disbelief we all now wonder who will die tomorrow. It very well might be someone you know, a friend, a relative, a family member, your husband or wife and even your children. No one is spared from COVID-19. It doesn’t care who you are and where you’re from your creed or color, old or young. WHO Director General Tedros – “a message for young people you are not invincible!” It’s a sobering feeling for all of us and yet many people from many countries are still either in denial or not taking it seriously, to the point where they are ignoring their Government’s orders to stay in your home. Many countries have initiated the military to enforce the order to stay indoors; for however long has been mandated. Nearly every country in the world has some kind of lockdown procedure from 7-30 days quarantine, stay in place orders. Though here in the U.S it’s only some states and still people are out and about not wearing a mask and gloves. I realize throughout the world PPE equipment, (N95, N99, Surgical Masks, Nitrile Gloves, Goggles and Face Shields) are in very low supply and there is a shortage to go around. Countries are now scrambling to get supplied and here in the U.S hospital staff is being told to reuse surgical masks. Surgical masks are only supposed to be used once, just one time only use! It’s absolutely lamentable when I here our present Administration who are so out of touch with reality. How on earth the supposed most powerful and wealthiest country in the world not have enough protective equipment for our Doctors, Nurses and First Responders who are battling this virulent and deadly foe putting their lives on the line without the proper and necessary equipment. Many can’t even get basic surgical masks. The shortage of safety gear has become so dire that workers at some NYC hospitals are having to wear trash bags as protection. I look with incredulity and shake my head wondering how this has come to pass. The Government has allowed people to die and tens of thousands will die unnecessarily because we were not prepared. The U.S Government had more than 10 weeks to mobilize a strategy and prepare for dealing with this Global Pandemic. To think: It took 87 days to get the first 100,000 cases worldwide. It then took 11 days to get to 200,000 and 5 days to get to 300,000 and 3 days to get to 400,000. Tomorrow we will pass 500,000 having taken only 2 days. The U.S has now passed China for the most infected cases. Well we always want to be #1. March 5th was the U.S first case, so it’s only taken 20 days to pass China’s numbers of infected cases. At the current rate of exponential growth the number of infected cases here in the U.S by the end of April will be 600,000 or more and number of deaths I fear will be devastating. I think most people are starting to realize there is a real threat to human life. We must keep our distance from other people. We live in a changed world and we know younger people are no longer being spared. But you know this is so simple, it’s stupid to even have to say it. Everyone must wear a mask. Remember we don’t know who is carrying the virus, and who is asymptomatic. So because we are not testing everyone except those who are ill then its very likely that anywhere between 50-70% of the population is infected. So no excuses we all must wear a mask (it’s time to take the sewing machine out and make one if you have to).  Surgical masks are to protect you of anything I might have. If I was advising the President I would tell him to wear a mask and announce to the country that everyone needs to wear one and shame people or fine them if they’re not wearing one. In China anyone without a mask were immediately grabbed and taken into quarantine. And even now that China seems to have the Pandemic somewhat under control everyone still must wear a mask. South Korea is warning foreigners that they will be deported and its own citizens will face jail if they violate self-quarantine rules after a surge in imported coronavirus cases. How many have to die until we get this through our thick skulls. Is it that difficult? Yesterday the Department of Homeland Security had been briefed that New York City’s morgues are nearing capacity, according to a department official and a second person familiar with the situation. Officials were told that morgues in NYC are expected to reach capacity next week per the briefing. And to think this virus is just getting warmed up. The U.K are about 7-10 days behind Italy and we are about the same behind the U.K. Which means that by Easter the numbers of infected cases will be doubling every day. There are some very long tough days ahead of us. I really hope the Government makes the necessary nationwide lockdown measures that need to happen and be enforced. How many deaths is it going to take before these necessary measures are implemented? Every citizen of the world must start taking it seriously by practice social distancing staying 6 feet away from other people, washing your hands thoroughly and regularly, isolate yourself at home and always wear a mask and gloves when you go out. It’s the only way we have a fighting chance to bring the numbers of infected cases down, so it’s actually manageable? Otherwise the situation will be terrifying. And so we wait.
